The Nike Dunk Low SB True Red came out in 2003 and are also known as Reverse Vamps, due to the same color scheme (but of course in reverse) used on the Vamp Dunk Low SBs.
The name True Red comes from the official colorway of the shoe. There’s not much else to say that isn’t already immediately apparent about these!
I’ve found that these really pop with an all black outfit. If you want to diminish how bright these are, you might opt for a lighter outfit and swap to the black laces. I highly recommend these kicks for someone wanting to put together some great outfits where the shoes pop without being skittles colors.
These were a grail for me and I was glad to track down a pair for a decent price. Before the Red October Yeezy, these were it! One of my funniest/oddest sneaker memories was when I was walking near the Boardwalk in Santa Cruz, CA and a guy bent a corner and slowed down just enough to yell “RED ASS SHOES!” out the window!
How Are The Materials?
These are a classic SB with simple, high quality suede and leather uppers. The suede has a short hair grain to it like nubuck and is very soft. As with most silver box SB dunks, the materials on these are second to none. If you are into soft suedes, you will definitely be excited to get a pair of these.
How Do They Fit?
The fit on these is true to size and they are very comfortable. The materials do have a bit of give, and the tongue isn’t quite as stuffed as your typical older SB low, so you may be able to go a half size down with little problem.
